The WDC-Soils, hosted by ISRIC – World Soil Information since 1989, provides a focus for soil-related collections and information services as custodian and creator of global soil information. An important aspect is our data rescue program, safeguarding older data sets which may be at risk of loss or deterioration and digitizing these materials. New soil-related data products and inter-operable web services, needed to support a wide range of studies of "global issues", are being generated in close collaboration with our international partners for the broader benefit of the WDS community and other stakeholders; ISRIC aims for open data.
