Report Available: First Session of Steering Group for Second OceanTeacher Global Academy Project
The OceanTeacher Global Academy provides a comprehensive web-based training platform that supports classroom training (face-to-face), blended training (combining classroom and distance learning), and online (distance) learning. The Steering Group for the second OceanTeacher Global Academy project met online for its first session on 5–7 October 2020. The meeting was attended by representatives of the 16 Regional and Specialized Training Centres and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) Programmes and regional bodies.
The Group unanimously agreed to the proposed Project Terms of Reference and Steering Group Terms of Reference, which will be submitted to the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (WDS Network Member) Committee for endorsement. The Steering Group also approved a provisional work plan for 2021 with 60 courses proposed. The final work plan for the first half of 2021 will be confirmed after consultation with IOC programmes and regional bodies to establish their priorities.
